Unicorn Goats and Tentacled Cats Are Part Of This Odd, Adorable Menagerie

By  |

Goats with unicorn horns, kittens with tentacles, baby gryphons and a large population of adorable baby animals–it sounds like the cast of a fantasy movie, but these are actually the creations of Oso Polar, who goes by the moniker da-bu-di-bu-da on deviantART.

Polar, who resides in Moscow, creates these whimsical creatures from fabric and clay. They”re not the average stuffed animal, but rather one-of-a-kind art pieces, with delicately formed faces featuring wide eyes and mischievous grins. Most are small enough to fit in the palm of a hand or in a pocket, and, being handmade, no two creatures are alike. They might not be the traditional kind of cute, but these critters are so charming that whatever creeps you might initially get will melt away when you look into their big, cute eyes. Which can number up to five.

Polar uses real animals for inspiration, but takes them in a new direction by adding fanciful colors or unnatural features like extra eyes. Some creatures are hybrids of two animals, such as the surprisingly adorable cat-octopus creature. In addition to creating these nifty little animals, Polar also repaints existing dolls, giving them new, unique faces. You can find much more of her work on her deviantART page, and she has an Etsy shop as well, where you can buy a critter of your very own.
