What Happened Shortly After These Photos Were Taken Will Break You Down

By  |

On March 15, 2014, Dutch tourists Kris Kremers, 21, and Lisanne Froon, 22, arrived in Panama for a six-week vacation. Both women disappeared two weeks later without a trace while hiking near the town of Boquete. Later that summer, locals found a backpack belonging to one of the women along with nearby skeletal remains. DNA tests confirmed that the remains belonged to the women.

The backpack contained a camera with over 100 photos, all taken within 10 days of their disappearance. The few that were released or leaked to the media show the two women laughing and enjoying their adventure into the wilderness, completely unaware of the fate about to befall them.

This photo was taken at the airport in Amsterdam right before their flight.

Both women have officially been declared dead since the finding of the bone fragments. The most likely scenario, according to police, is that one of the girls wandered off the trail and was injured somehow. The other girl then tried to help and was also injured. Sadly, without food and water, it was only a matter of time until the elements took their toll.
