These 11 Museums In America Are Dedicated To… What? So Weird.

America: it”s the home of the free and the land of the brace. It”s also a country that is home of something for everyone. With that in mind, it makes sense that dotted across the country there are museums dedicated to some truly bizarre things. These are some of the weirdest (and coolest) you can find:

If you have the desire to eat more Pez in once sitting than your body can handle, make sure to pay a visit to the Pez Museum in Burlingame, California.

The city of Houston, Texas hosts one of the most morbid museums on this list, the National Museum of Funeral History. While the subject matter is a bit grim, it does have a lot of interesting exhibits. For example, there is an exhibit of the funeral arrangements for Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis.

Retired hairdresser Leila Cohoon has tirelessly collected more than 2,000 pieces of human hair jewellery, and an additional 600 hair wreaths. Some of these pieces of hair date back as far as the 18th century. (Creepy.)

The museum boasts a collection of 750 dummies from 20 different countries. If you have a fear of dummies (and who doesn”t, really?) you might want to stay far away from this one.

Here, you can enjoy a massive collection of 22,000 different salt and pepper shakers (all of them part of a private collection). I guess I”ll check it out on my next visit to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Or more accurately, the Cockroach Hall of Fame. What started out as a publicity stunt in for an exterminator in Plano, Texas has become an actual museum. There you can check out a diverse array of dead cockroaches who have been (ready?) posed for your entertainment.

This odd museum is only a house in Pasadena, California. Inside the house are 23,000 toy bunnies made from all sorts of different things. The family who runs the museum has been collecting these bunnies for 15 years, and buries the broken bunny toys in the backyard.

Here you can check out a collection of more than 1,000 different velvet paintings. Sounds pretty groovy if you ask me.

The town of Eden, New York has a very annoying secret, and it”s the Kazoo Museum. The museum is actually a kazoo company that”s been making them since 1916. You can stop in to see a history of kazoos, or even make your own custom instrument.

Barney Smith used to be a plumber, but now he is an artist and art curator. The toilet seat art museum is exactly what you think. It”s essentially a one car garage filled with artfully painted toilet seats.

Visitors to Columbus, Georgia”s lunchbox museum can relive their childhood lunchtimes among the museum”s 1,500 lunchboxes. This place is jam packed with nostalgia.
