Although they may be fascinating, I don”t aspire to visit haunted places around the world. I don”t want to climb through dense woods, feeling the creepy crawl of a specter on my shoulder, or see people disappear into thin air.
But if you”re a little more adventurous, then by all means tempt your fate at these locations. Just don”t blame me when you don”t come back…alive.
1. Union Cemetery, Connecticut
This place is locked at night and regularly patrolled by police. The specter of the White Lady here was actually caught on film and photograph. That”s why this graveyard is called the most haunted cemetery in the U.S.
2. The Door to Hell, Turkmenistan
This was originally a gas field set alight by Soviet scientists and has burned continuously for over 40 years. It”s weirdly beloved by spiders for miles around.
3. The Whaley House, San Diego
The family members living here all perished under mysterious circumstances. Each was seen wandering in and out of the house. They”ve even grabbed guests of the house and were seen outside windows.
4. Raynham Hall, England
This place was the scene for possibly the most famous ghost photo of all time: The famous Brown Lady descending the staircase. She”s oddly remained absent since the photo was taken.
5. Willard Asylum, New York
Almost half of the 50,000 patients here died. This death trap for the criminally insane haunts people to this day.
6. The Tower of London
Ann Boleyn”s ghost was spotted here on many occasions since her death in 1536. She was even seen sometimes carrying her head on Tower Green and in the Tower Chapel Royal.
7. Pickens County Courthouse, Alabama
This courthouse is home to one of the best images of a ghost in existence. The image is said to be the face of Henry Wells, who (as legend has it) was falsely accused of burning down the towns previous courthouse and lynched on a stormy night in 1878.
8. Mirny Diamond Mine, Eastern Siberia
The second largest man-made hole in the world. It was since abandoned. Ready for the descent into hell?
9. Farmhouse, Seneca Lake, New York
This “graveyard of cars” will send you straight back to the eerie past.
