He Wrapped String Around A Bottle And Lit It On Fire To Make Something So Cool
Have you ever seen drinking glasses made from old beer bottles? I always thought they were a cool way to pay homage to your favorite brew, but never thought I could make them without special tools and carefully honed skills. But with the cool DIY trick below, you can cut any glass bottle with just a bit of string, a lighter, a bowl of cold water, and a beauty product I never knew had such epic potential. If you want to learn how to cut glass in seconds, get your safety goggles ready and read the tutorial below. If you burn your eyebrows off…don”t say we didn”t warn you.
First, wrap your bottle in string where you”d like to make your cut.
Once you”ve wrapped a thick layer of string around the bottle, tie it off tightly so it stays in place. Cut off any excess string.
Next, soak the string in nail polish remover until it”s fully drenched.
Over a bowl of cold water, light the string on fire.
Twist the bottle around so the fire reaches every part of the string.
After about 30 seconds, submerge the bottle in cold water.
The bottle will pop apart.
As you can see, the edges of the glass will be jagged.
If you want to use the bottom portion of the bottle as a drinking glass, make sure to sand down the edges.
Or use the top portion as a unique hanging lampshade.

Just because you can try this at home, doesn”t mean that it”s for everyone. If you decide to try cutting glass bottles with fire, make sure you know exactly what you”re doing and have taken proper safety precautions. Make sure you wear fire-proof gloves to protect your hands from the heat and flying shards of glass. Plus, you should definitely wear safety goggles. The results are cool, but getting injured in the process isn”t so awesome.
